Quanergy Systems, Inc., a provider of LiDAR sensors and smart sensing solutions, announced the appointment of Karen C. Francis to the company’s board of directors.
Francis brings extensive experience growing and leading companies across the automotive and technology industries. As a member of Quanergy’s board of directors and independent director, she will advise the company on key business strategy and development initiatives.

Francis brings decades of corporate leadership and technology experience across public and private companies. Most notably, she served as Chairwoman and CEO of Academix Direct, a Silicon Valley-based education technology firm, and Chairwoman and CEO of Publicis and Hal Riney.
She has also held senior leadership positions at Ford Motor Company as Vice President and President/CEO of ConsumerConnect, Ford’s corporate venture capital group and at General Motors as the General Manager of Oldsmobile where she was responsible for all sales, marketing, strategy and product development. She currently serves on a number of boards, including the connected car embedded navigation company, Telenav and AI-powered autonomous vehicle technology company, Nauto.
Francis is a frequent speaker on the future of autonomy, innovation, talent development and corporate governance. In recognition of her exemplary board leadership, she has been named a National Association of Corporate Directors Fellow, the highest level of credentialing for corporate directors and corporate governance professionals. Francis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Dartmouth College and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
