Chinese Tier supplier, Beijing West Industries (BWI), recently unveiled plans for the expansion of its plant in the Mexican city of Chihuahua.
The announcement was made by the local authorities at a press conference which was also attended by the company’s Global Director of Manufacturing Operations, Craig Diem.
BWI’s Chihuahua plant primarily manufactures brake and suspension systems. The expansion of the plant would cost the company approximately $30 million.
The expansion is expected to add 100 new jobs at the plant. The facility currently employs a workforce of around 700 workers.
The China based manufacturer had bought the suspension business of Delphi Chassis Systems when the latter went bankrupt in 2009.
BWI has been supplying parts to many OEMs such as Ford, BMW, GM, JLR to name a few.
