Valeo is accelerating in Czech Republic with the extension of the R&D center dedicated to comfort and driving assistance systems. The R&D center, that was initially built in 2002 and then enlarged in 2017, today counts up to 9000 m2, out of which over one third are laboratories equipped with testing technologies. The center is surrounded by a test track focused on testing of automated parking systems. Over 700 employees are ensuring the full development process from customer requirement analysis, through software, hardware, mechanical design to testing on test track and also in real traffic conditions.
A new building of 2300 m2 will provide office and testing capacities for additional 250 engineers – an investment of 125 million CZK ($4.9 million). The construction works will terminate in spring 2018 and the official inauguration is planned for March 2018.
Valeo is present in the Czech Republic since 1995 with the first production plant in Rakovnik, followed by two other production site openings in Zebrak (2001) and Humpolec (2002) manufacturing air conditioning systems, exhaust gas recirculation systems, interior control panels and front-end modules. The research and development activity was established in 2002 in Prague, initially as an engineering office focused on mechanical design of air conditioning units and interior control panels. In 2013 the activity was extended by the development of sensors, software and systems for automated driving and automated parking, followed by the opening of a test track in Milovice enabling high and low-speed maneuvers.
